Staff fees
A Staff member needs to raise $1,500.00 a month per person to live in Long Beach. This includes an estimate of housing, food and transportation. We realize the expense of living in CA can be a hard task, but believe if God is calling you, He will help you each step of the way. We ask you to raise enough to reasonably live for your personal expenses, not just the minimum. If you have children, contact us to find out information about life with a family.
Housing
We do not run from a housing facility. All staff live in our own apartments or homes. However, we will help work with you in finding the perfect place. Many times, we look for rooms to rent from local church members, who want to help local missionaries. Independent housing prices range from $800 a room - $2.000 for a one bedroom apartment. We encourage community living with other staff to split the cost of housing.
Food & Transportation
Food costs vary on your roommates and how you budget. There is an estimated $400 per month for food. Also, consider extra expenses such as going out, getting coffee, etc. If you do not have a car or motorcycle, we offer rides to ministry. Working in the city requires transportation and recommend working towards having transportation. Long Beach is a very bicycle friendly city and can be a good way to get around. A monthly bus pass is $65.
Commitment
All staff are required to make an initial one-year commitment. You will work a full-time, 40-hour week. We are a small team operating YWAM location, focused on outreach and pioneering. 2-3 days a week, we participate in outreach, with homeless and those in need. Then 2 days a week is focused on administration work. Any events we host are required to attend, but open to exceptions. We are open to time off, with a 2 weeks notice. Travel for support raising is not considered vacation time.
